A local chapter of the Volkswagen Club of America, the Northeast Illinois Volkswagen Association (NIVA) was founded in 1990 so that area VW enthusiasts could get together and enjoy a common interest. NIVA is a family oriented club that promotes the restoration, enjoyment, preservation and promotion of all VW's, both air and water-cooled.
We try to have at least one club activity per month - events include car shows, cruises, picnics, slot-car racing, fix-it day, camping, our annual holiday banquet, an indoor Spring swap meet, a local Independence Day parade and area cruise nights. NIVA organizes two huge all-VW car shows/swap meets during the summer and our members also attend other VW-related activities in the area throughout the year. NIVA membership also includes membership in the Volkswagen Club of America (not affiliated with VWoA), so you will receive the VWCA newsletter as well.
Monthly membership "Meet-n-Eats" are held on the fourth (not the last) Wednesday of each month (except November and December) at Portillo's in Schaumburg. Portillo's is located at 611 E. Golf Rd. (just west of Plum Grove Rd.). We meet for dinner at 6:00pm and the meetings begin around 7:00pm. We usually wrap up around 8:30pm.
